Matt Smith Films Series Seven Of 'Doctor Who' In A Playground Outside Cardiff (PHOTOS)

Matt Smith has been photographed near Cardiff filming scenes for the new series of Doctor Who.

Series seven of the long-running BBC sci-fi drama will be the last to feature Karen Gillan (Amy Pond) and Arthur Darvill (Rory Williams) as the assistants to Matt Smith's Time Lord. They will both be replaced by Jenna-Louise Coleman part-way through the new episodes.

Yesterday it was revealed that Call the Midwife star Jessica Raine has also landed a role in the show. The Sun reports that she will play a character named Emma Grayling alongside the Doctor in the episode Phantoms of the Hex, according to her online CV at acting agency Gordon and French.

The first episode in the seventh series will be titled Asylum of the Daleks and will premiere at BFI Southbank in London on August 14. The episode will see the Daleks return to the show for the first time since 2010.

'The Apprentice' Reject Nick Holzherr Bags Funding For Food Website

Lord Sugar rejected his pitch during the last series of The Apprentice as useless, asking: "Who could be bothered with it?"

But now Apprentice runner-up Nick Holzherr has found investors who are fond enough of his idea to stump up £170,000, according to the BBC.

The idea is Whisk, a service that creates online shopping lists based on recipes. The website will allow customers to convert recipes automatically into shopping lists within online supermarkets.

During the show Holzherr was beaten to Lord Sugar's investment by Ricky Martin, a recruitment team manager and wrestler from Portsmouth, who pitched a pharmaceutical recruitment company idea.

But Holzherr didn't give up on his idea. Speaking to the BBC, he said: "I was trying to stress to Lord Sugar and his advisors that you don't need a lot of money to build this.

"We're hoping we'll be able to generate revenue quite quickly."

Other Apprentice rejects who've gone on to secure investments include Suan Ma. Lord Sugar invested in Ma's skincare company Tropic, despite her originally failing to secure Sugar's £250,000 stake in 2011's Apprentice competition.

And Ruth Badger, who made it to the final in 2006 but was narrowly beaten by Michelle Dewbery, was hired by Lord Sugar for six months after the show.

Holzherr's story is just further confirmation that when it comes to The Apprentice, what counts is not necessarily the winning, but the taking part.

Cher Lloyd Performs Robyn's 'Dancing On My Own' In New York (VIDEO)

X Factor reject Cher Lloyd has showed off her cracking vocals on a street corner in New York, with an acoustic cover of Robyn's hit song Dancing On my Own.

Cher hasn't taken to busking, she is in fact on a promotional tour of the States and the performance - watched by confused passers-by - was for US radio network iHeartRadio.

Speaking in the video above, Cher, who came fourth in the seventh series of Simon Cowell's singing contest, said: "I chose the Robyn song to perform because I really like her as an artist. She does inspire me and I just feel like many of her songs are so good.

"That one in particular was a dance track and then she did the version of it stripped down and I fell in love with it and that's why I like to do it."

After earning a number one with her debut single Swagger Jagger and a number four album with Sticks + Stones in the UK, the 18-year-old is currently drumming up publicity for her new US single Want U Back and earning swathes of fans while she's at it.

This week started of a with a mud-bath at the Isle Of Wight Festival, but, despite it being plagued by downpours and traffic disasters, in amongst all the chaos were three stellar performances from a trio of US rock legends.

Friday night saw Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers perform a two-hour set, from the epic Learning To Fly, to the catchy and heartfelt I Won't Back Down. Saturday saw Seattle grunge rockers Pearl Jam delve into their back catalogue, covered the Beatles' Rain, in tribute to the weather, and frontman Eddie Vedder made a heartfelt tribute to The Clash frontman Joe Strummer. And on Sunday the sun came ahead of a fantastic closing gig from The Boss and his band.

Meanwhile, in London Rihanna was tearing up the stage at Hackney Weekender, with a little help from her friend Jay-Z. The biggest pop star in the world treated the crowd to a greatest hits set on Sunday, kindly informing everyone that they "rock". But although the American closed the show, Brits such as Florence + The Machine, Plan B and Jessie J also held their own during the two-day event.

In the world of TV, This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield did well to restrain his wrath on Tuesday, when he was forced to say sorry over an on-air blunder.

The host had to apologise to viewers for a segment in the show covering porn star lovers, which turned out to be a load of rubbish.

After four years in the waiting, all five Spice Girls reunited to launch their Viva Forever musical. Mel B, Mel C, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton and Victoria Beckham came together for the launch of the West End production at London's Renaissance Hotel, St Pancras - which was the setting for their first video, Wannabe.

And while four of the girls were all smiles, one kept her lips firmly pouted - can you guess who?

And finally, this week ended on a sad note with the news that beloved screenwriter Nora Ephron had died at the age of 71.

Benicassim Festival Preview: The Stone Roses, Bob Dylan, Florence + The Machine And New Order

The Stone Roses, Bob Dylan, Florence + The Machine and New Order are set to headline the Mediterranean all-night party that is Festival Internacional de Benicàssim 2012 in Spain.

For The Stone Roses, it will be one of their biggest performances since they announced, in October last year, that they were reuniting.

It will follow their performance this weekend at Manchester's Heaton Park, where the band, who split in 1996, will play two sold-out outdoor reunion gigs.

John Squire, Ian Brown, Mani and Reni will play at the famous Spanish festival on Saturday 14 July.

Located just a mile or so from the beach, Benicàssim, as it's better known, is far from your typical British music festival offering - forget your wellies, this event is all about flip-flops.

To compensate for the Spanish daytime heat (it's expected to be around 34 degrees) all of the action takes place at night, with headliners arriving on stage at 1am and the normal pre-headliner finishing off the night at 3am. For hardcore festival-goers, DJs take you through to sunrise at 6am.

Over 100 acts will perform over 4 days and over 4 stages. Joining music legends such as Bob Dylan and New Order will be contemporary big name UK artists like Ed Sheeran, Jessie J, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds and The Vaccines - plus French house music DJ David Guetta.

Tom Cruise forbade Katie Holmes from appearing in a Dawson's Creek Reunion film, Us Weekly has claimed.

The magazine reports that when Holmes was approached about possibly reuniting with her former costars James Van Der Beek and Joshua Jackson, Cruise vetoed the idea.

A source told the new issue of Us Weekly: "Tom said absolutely no way and thought going backward would be bad."

Holmes starred as girl-next-door Joey Potter on Dawson's Creek for six seasons and, in a November 2011 appearance on Good Morning America, said a reunion movie "would be fun. I had so much fun working on that show and I loved everyone so much and I think about it with such fond memories".

Holmes filed for divorce in New York City on 28 June after five years of marriage to Cruise and is now said to be planning a return to the acting world.

She just wrapped a modern version of Chekov's The Seagull and is at work on Molly, which she co-wrote and produced. Jack and Jill, in which she stars alongside Adam Sandler, went on DVD release this week.

Meanwhile, Cruise - one of the world's most enduring film stars - turned 50 on Tuesday.

He's been sensibly bunkered down in Iceland, filming his latest sci-fi adventure, Oblivion, however US Weekly reports he boarded a private jet at 2 am on his birthday at the Reykjavik airport in Iceland, to head to California.

Dappy has rather cleverly released a video that's guaranteed to get everyone talking about him...

The video for his latest freestyle I'm Coming (Tarzan Part 2) sees the former N-Dubz star sing about being "hung like a tree" while in a Tarzan costume, and features people wearing shoddy celebrity masks.

One such mask is of former X Factor star Alexandra Burke's face. Dappy tears Burke apart in the video, rapping: "Alexandra, pull your socks up/ Where your hits at, you ain't no winner/ I feel bad cos your voice is amazing/ But your career is getting raped by a mason."

And she's not the only one he takes a pop at. Tulisa's brash cousin also says: "I heard Simon Cowell thinks I'm a little w**ker/ And that I'm getting on his t*ts like cancer/ I don't want to start mentioning names (f**k it)/ Where they all now? They're bankrupt."

Dappy has released the video ahead of his 'controversial' debut solo album Bad Intentions, which is out in September.

A hint of Tony Stark's new Iron Man costume has been revealed in some concept art released by Disney/Marvel ahead of the upcoming third film.

For Iron Man 3, it seems that Robert Downey Jr's character's uniform will be getting an upgrade with more top-of-the-line technology embedded in his outfit, but in the image above he's wearing only part of his Iron Man suit.

The superhero was last seen conquering baddies in The Avengers and when Iron Man 3 hits cinemas on 3 May 2013, Downey Jr will be take on Guy Pearce as the film's villain.

Gwyneth Paltrow is set to reprise her role as Pepper Potts, with Sir Ben Kingsley and Rebecca Hall also joining the cast.

Rihanna Cancels Rock In Rio Festival Appearance In Madrid

Rihanna has cancelled her performance at Rock In Rio festival in Madrid, Spain following the death of her grandmother.

The superstar was due to headline the event on Thursday but has pulled out after Clara 'Dolly' Braithwaite lost her battle with cancer over the weekend.

Rock In Rio organisers confirmed the news Tuesday night, stating that they intend to replace RiRi, while also offering refunds to disappointed fans.

Earlier this week, the Umbrella singer - who had yet to announce the news of her grandmother's death - came under fire from fans after a shaky performance at Sweden's Peace And Love Music Festival.

Fans took to Twitter to raise their concerns after she arrived 45 minutes late on stage, seemed disorientated and was accused of miming.

But the following day, the singer tweeted several photographs of her with her grandmother with the message: "#Goodbye grangranDOLLY get your beauty rest until I see you."

A heartbroken Rihanna has now headed back to her native Barbados and tweeted a picture of herself ready to board a private jet, after she was seen leaving her London hotel.

RiRi is still set to headline this weekend's Wireless Festival in London's Hyde Park on Sunday (8 July) as planned.

Daniel Radcliffe turned 23 years old on Monday, celebrating 13 years in front of the camera.

His first on-screen role was aged ten in BBC One's 1999 television film David Copperfield, but it was, of course, for his casting as the boy wizard Harry Potter when he was 11 that he is - and probably forever will be - best known.

His ten years as Potter, alongside Rupert Grint as best friend Ron Weasley and Emma Watson as studious Hermione Granger, starring in the biggest film franchise of all time helped make Radcliffe the richest young actor in the UK under 30, with an estimated £54m earnings.

Piers Morgan makes his not-exactly-long-awaited film debut in the latest TV spot for Will Ferrell's new film The Campaign.

Former Daily Mirror editor Morgan's role in the comedy doesn't seem a far cry from his real-life job as CNN presenter, as he questions Ferrell, live on air, over taking money from tobacco companies.

The Campaign sees Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis star as two Southerners vying for a seat in Congress to represent their small district.

'Downton Abbey' Creator Lord Julian Fellowes On Shirley MacLaine: 'The Whole Thing Went Off Like A Firecracker'

Downton Abbey, the ITV period drama that has transcended its genre and become a huge international hit, is gearing up to return to our screens.

Having become the most nominated non-American show in Emmy Awards' history recently, adding 16 nominations to its belt last week to add to the eleven it scored last year, Lord Julian Fellowes' show about an aristocratic family and those close to them has become more than a success Stateside, it's earned honourable national treasure status.

Is that why he felt the need to introduce a larger-than-life American character into the distinctly British drama?

Fellowes has cast Terms of Endearment star Shirley MacLaine as Lady Grantham's mother Martha Levinson, a move that is bound to shake up the house...

"That isn't the purpose of Martha Levinson," Fellowes says, as we listen to him introduce the third series at a press conference in London's Mayfair Hotel.

"The reason she has come in is because Cora [Lady Grantham] comes from a different tradition and in the first two series it's come up every now and again, when Mary says things like 'oh you don't understand these things, you're American'.

"Now that the world is changing, the fact that Cora has been brought up not to think that this is the only way of life becomes more pronounced, and a way of stating that at the beginning of the series is to remind the audience that Cora's background is quite different to Robert's. So that was the idea of bringing in Martha at this point," the Oscar-winning screenwriter explains.

He continues: "That said, we then were lucky enough to get hold of Shirley MacLaine so the whole thing went off like a firecracker.

"That was the narrative purpose - as a reminder that her mother was not Violet Grantham - and now we get these two very different women in the series.

"You see that Violet thinks everything was better in the past, whereas Martha is the opposite - she thinks that everything that's changing is great and the future is terrific and she wants to fly on a jet plane and get moving.

"So you have these almost exact contemporaries in real life together move forwards together."

'Downton Abbey' Series 3 Needed An 'Equal Match' For Dame Maggie Smith, Say Show's Creators

Who can match the waspish asides of Dame Maggie Smith’s Dowager in Downton Abbey?

According to the show's creators, Lord Julian Fellowes and executive producer Gareth Neame, veteran actress Shirley MacLaine is more than up to the task.

Neame, who along with Fellowes has helped turn the ITV period-drama into an international Golden Globe-winning success, says on casting the American actress to play Lady Grantham's mother: "The key thing was to have an actress that was an equal match for Maggie Smith and that made the list very small."

Fellowes admits he always had the Terms of Endearment star in mind for the role. "I'd written the piece, she was what we were looking for even if we didn't know that we'd get her,” he said. “We wanted that completely different cultural character. She was our first choice."

Fellowes, who has just seen his show become the most nominated non-American show in the history of the Emmys, adds: "They had to punch equally and when they're both on the screen you have to want to look at both."

However, Hollywood legend MacLaine didn't find her turn on Downton a walk in a well-pruned park...

"She struggled at first with the pace of the lines. But I was so impressed with how she hated the thought that she was letting people down, she worked really hard to get there," says producer Liz Trubridge.

And Neame confirms that the actors "absolutely adored working with her".

The shows director, Brian Percival, adds: "She's a living legend but she was incredibly warm-hearted, witty and easy to deal with."

'Fifty Shades Of Grey': Is Emma Watson Going To Play Ana Steele?

Emma Watson is considering playing Ana Steele in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades Of Grey, according to reports.

The International Business Times has said the Harry Potter star is "is one of the prime choices for the role".

The Twilight-inspired novel, written by British author E. L. James, follows a young college student as she embarks on a BDSM relationship with an older businessman.

Producers of The Social Network, Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti, will bring the film to screen, while actors Emma Roberts, Ashley Benson and Lucy Hale have all expressed interest in the female lead.

Christian Grey, the big shot from the book, was recently imagined in the flesh with the help of image-generating software and descriptions from women who have read the tome, while Chris Pine and True Blood's Alexander Skarsgård have been linked to the screen adaptation.

Author James has become the first writer to see three of her books (Fifty Shades Of Grey is part of a trilogy) each sell in excess of 100,000 paperback copies in a week and the film adaptation has gained huge interest.

'Jack And Diane' Trailer: Kylie Minogue's Lesbian Kiss With Riley Keough In First Look At Horror Romance

The trailer for horror romance Jack and Diane, starring Juno Temple and Riley Keough has debuted online.

Temple stars as the naive Diane, who falls for the harder-edged, more cynical girl, confusingly called Jack (Keough), while on a trip to New York.

In the trailer, Keough, Elvis Presley's granddaughter who has just appeared in Steven Soderbergh's male stripper film Magic Mike, is seen kissing pop princess Kylie Minogue.

And, just to add to the intrigue, the All The Lovers singer has been transformed for the role with tattoos.

It's the second film Minogue has appeared in this year. She also features in French arthouse film Holy Motors singing a show tune, set to be released 28 September.

'Life Of Pi' Trailer: Yann Martel's Best-Seller Gets A Wordless Clip

The film adaptation of Life of Pi has debuted its first trailer, starring a pretty ferocious looking CGI tiger.

Based on Yann Martel's Booker Prize-winning novel, the 3D film by Oscar-winning director Ang Lee, is due out this Christmas, competing with other big-name book adaptations The Great Gatsby and Part One of The Hobbit.

Suraj Sharma (in his first major role) stars as the young Pi, a zookeeper's son who finds himself lost at sea with a Bengal tiger, a zebra, a hyena and an orangutan.

Tobey Maguire, Gerard Depardieu and Irrfan Khan are among the film's supporting cast.

Life of Pi will be released 21 December in the UK.

Kevin Costner Sues 'Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves' Producers For Allegedly 'Concealing Profits'

Kevin Costner is suing the the producers of 1991 film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, in which he starred as Robin Hood, for allegedly cutting him out of his share of the film's profits since 2010.

In court papers filed in the US on Tuesday, first seen by Deadline.com, Costner alleges that Morgan Creek Productions have "concealed" payments over the last two years.

The global hit grossed over $390 million worldwide and tens of millions more from television, home video and other sources.

Morgan Creek CEO James Robinson told The Hollywood Reporter: "Why is it after 22 years Mr. Costner finds fault with our accounting procedures or for that matter our way of doing business?"

He added: "We have paid him over $40 million. I think we've been very nice to him. I wonder how much money he has made from other films where he is participant. We've been very straight with him."

However, in the legal papers filed, Costner wrote: "Every actor hopes to star in a great movie that makes substantial profits. But if you're hoping to earn profits based on the success of your film and you want to be paid on a timely basis, then one company you certainly do not want to do business with is Defendant Morgan Creek."

Costner has just been Emmy-nominated for Best Actor in a Miniseries for his role in Hatfields and McCoys. On hearing the news, he told the LA Times: "I have to be honest, this is a thrill, this is really great."

The Oscar winner is currently travelling with his band, as they tour in support of their album, Famous for Killing Each Other.

The actor, who is set to play Superman's adoptive father Jonathan Kent in forthcoming film Man Of Steel, has also recently been in a dispute with Alec Baldwin's brother Stephen.

Stephen Baldwin claimed Costner and a business partner duped him and a friend out of their shares of an $18 million deal concerning investments in a device used to try to clean up BP's 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. However, the jury cleared Costner of the allegations.

X Factor winners Little Mix have debuted their first proper music video for their single Wings.

The colourful video, which sees the girls showing off some of their best dance moves in front of a giant pink and purple Union Jack flag, has come just in time for the start of the London Olympics.
