Lovebox 2012 Review: Grace Jones Closes Festival With Sexed-Up Scary Show (PHOTOS)

Two weeks ago, Grace Jones wowed millions of viewers of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Concert by hula-hooping through her set in front of Buckingham Palace.

On Sunday night, the 64-year-old former model added a pole to her props, as she humped and gyrated her way through a one hour, 15-minute slot at Lovebox music festival in Victoria Park, east London.

The mostly out-and-proud gay crowd roared as the Jamaican-born singer appeared towering above them on a black crane and wearing a sliver cape. After whipping it off to reveal a theatrical long black coat, Jones continued to change outfits between every song.

I particularly liked the Lion King-inspired mask and mane that she donned for a rendition of My Jamaican Guy, which included a lot of leg draping and thrusting against the stage.

Also on the camp lineup was the long-awaited return of Sam Sparro and a fantastic performance from Chaka Khan who - dressed in an impossibly tight denim catsuit complete with gold diamante studded microphone - got the crowd singing alone to her classic feelgood disco hits such as Ain't Nobody and I'm Every Woman.

Nile Rodgers, with his band Chic, performed just some of the impressive back-catalogue of songs he has written and produced including Like A Virgin, Freak Out, We Are Family and Good Times. The music legend, who has worked with the likes of Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin and Luther Vandross, drew fans from the crowd up on the stage for a collective dance-along.

Over on the Outdoor Stage, there was a more contemporary and sombre mood as Lana Del Rey performed a captivating set of songs from her album Born To Die - but it was clear the night belonged to the disco kings and queens over on the main stage.

Lovebox's 10th year was wrapped with a 14-minute rendition of Slave to the Rhythm from Jones, a crazy but perfect finale.

Pendulum have announced that they have split up, after 10 years and three studio albums.

The Australian dance rockers, who have been a fixture on the festival circuit in recent years, playing over 30 festivals across Europe last summer, posted the news on Twitter on Tuesday.

The band's multi-instrumentalist and main songwriter Rob Swire, who is currently touring with his side-project Knife Party, tweeted: "There will be no further Pendulum live shows. There are no current plans for a new album in 2013."

However, it seems the name Pendulum will still continue to operate, with members Paul "El Hornet" Harding and Ben "The Verse" Mount continuing to book DJ sets under the band's name.

Swire, who was clearly stunned by the reaction of fans to news of Pendulum's split, wrote: "Lol...wow, everyone loves things more when they're gone, I guess. The Kurt Cobain effect."

Former X Factor stars 2 Shoes have signed a single and album deal with a Universal Records subsidary.

The bubbly duo will release their debut track, Turn Me On (Turn Me Out), a cover of Kathy James' song, on 13 August.

The girls were knocked out of the X Factor after Tulisa decided to eliminate them in the first round.

When womaniser Frankie Cocozza was kicked out of the competition for breaking a 'golden rule' of the show, 2 Shoes had the chance to replace him - but the public voted for Amelia Lily to return instead.

Earlier this week, the Essex pair tweeted: "OMG GUYS! We cannot wait for you to see our video for our debut single - Turn Me on (Turn Me Out) it is..............TOTES AMAZE!!!! (sic)".

Since the show 2 Shoes' group member Charley Bird has given birth to a baby boy. In January she took her son, Beaux Phillips Bird, on This Morning to show him off, alongside the other half of 2 Shoes Lucy Texeira.

Are you glad the girls have finally got a record deal? Watch them perform their new single below:

The stylish take on Leo Tolstoy's acclaimed novel sees Anna (Knightley) fall in love and embark on an affair with handsome officer Count Vronsky (Aaron Johnson), which is a problem since she's already married to government official Alexei Karenin (Jude Law).

The Russian tragedy has been turned into TV mini-series and films countless times before, the first starring Greta Garbo in 1935. But this adaptation - written by Tom Stoppard (Shakespeare in Love) - could have Oscar success written all over it.

Anna Karenina is released in cinemas 7 September.

Lily Allen Back In The Recording Studio: Why We're Craving Her Return (VIDEOS)

Noughties music superstar Lily Allen has revealed she's back in the recording studio.

The Smile singer previously insisted she had no plans to make another album after the release of her second, It's Not Me, It's You, in 2009.

But Lily, who gave birth to baby Ethel last year, revealed on Twitter: "You will be pleased to know that I am currently in the f***ing studio with @GregKurstin."

Producer Greg worked with Lily on It's Not Me, It's You, which included two singles laden with her trademark honest and comical lines - The Fear and Not Fair.

However, Lily, 27, went on to play down her return to recording, adding: "No big deal really, I'm just throwing s*** at the wall and seeing if anything sticks."

But isn't a return to the charts from Lily just what the British music industry needs right now?

At the time of going to press, Cheryl Cole is currently sitting at the top spot with her catchy but meaningless single Call My Name and Carly Rae Jepsen's ridiculously popular but substance-less Call Me Maybe (having the word 'call' in a song title evidently the current recipe for success) is still dominating the airwaves.

lily allen

The closest to quality, original British song-writing we have in the charts is currently coming from Brit Award winners Ed Sheeran and Emeli Sande, both talented vocalists who can sing about something other than calling.

Thus it's about time Lily and her distinctive sound made a reappearance. Who else has the boldness to sing about an inability to get pleasure from their boyfriend, without it coming across in a slutty Rihanna-type way?

Satirisng the world she's part of, Lily sang in The Fear: "I'll take my clothes off and it will be shameless, because everyone knows that's how you get famous."

And she also wasn't afraid to air her family's dirty laundry. In her song Alfie she sings about her younger brother: "Oh deary me, my brother's in his room smoking weed."

Her honesty was a breath of fresh air in a chart full of sickly sweet and pretentious lyrics and it's about time it returned - so here's hoping some of that sh*t does stick.

The House The 50s Built- Channel 4, 9pm
Post-war changes in the bedroom are explored tonight as engineer Brendan Walker looks at the key inventions that helped the 1950s child to become a teenager.

Hairspray allowed youths to style their own quiffs and the electric guitar meant they could copy their American music heroes. And not to forget the transistor radios, which allowed many youngsters to play music in their rooms for the first time.

Watch and remember how many of the inventions you were thrilled to get your hands on, or just marvel at how out-of-date they all look now.

Hitler's Children - BBC HD, 8pm
Is it possible to move on or live an ordinary life when your family's name is associated with the Nazi regime?

This documentary explores how descendants of prominent Nazi members, including military commander Heinrich Himmler and Hitler's right-hand man Hermann Goering, have coped with the weight of their ancestors' crimes against humanity.

Chris Evans Facing 'One Show' Pay Cut: More Changes Planned For Turbulent Show

Chris Evans could see his £12,000-a-night One Show pay packet halved by bosses at the BBC.

The DJ and host of Friday's one-hour-long episode of the BBC magazine show, alongside Alex Jones, could see his salary significantly reduced when the show is halved to only 30-minutes-long, reports The Sun.

It's thought the hour-long episode could be moved to Wednesday night to boost the Beeb's mid-week schedule when ITV swaps Coronation Street to the same evening in the autumn.

Evans, who also presents the Radio 2 breakfast show, will be spoken to about the cut once the move is confirmed, a BBC source told the newspaper.

This is the latest potentially turbulent change for the beleaguered One Show.

Evans took on the role as Friday host in 2010, a decision which is reported to have led the former host Adrian Chiles to ditch his post as the show's regular presenter and move to ITV. His co-host Christine Bleakley followed suit shortly afterwards, when the BBC withdrew their contract offer to keep her.

The duo went on to present ITV's Daybreak, formerly GMTV, but ratings plummeted and they were both unceremoniously removed from their early morning sofa.

In May 2010, comedian Jason Manford was confirmed as Chiles' replacement as co-host for Monday-Thursday. However, after just four months in the post, Manford stepped down from his presenting duties, following revelations concerning his private life and some very naughty Twitter messages to fans.

The programme is now hosted by Countryfile's Matt Baker and Jones during the week, but whether they would receive a pay rise for the extra half-an-hour on a Wednesday nights has not been revealed. Who'd have thought the 7pm magazine slot could be so contentious? It was never like this when Nationwide was on the box...

The Devils Wear Prada star Emily Blunt has revealed she might be interested in revising her role as Miranda Priestly's catty assistant Emily Charlton in a sequel to the hit comedy-drama, but only if she's not forced to lose weight.

Speaking to The Huffington Post UK about rumours that Meryl Streep, who played cut-throat fashion magazine editor Priestly, is going to sign up for a sequel, Blunt said: "What Meryl said was she'd do it if she didn't have to lose the f***ing weight, that was her quote.

"And I'd probably say the same because they made me lose weight for that. I was playing that character who was on the edge of ill thin just desperately trying to maintain her weight."

However, she added: "I feel with sequels you can be in tricky territory because that movie was so special and cool, so we'll see if everyone else wants to do it."

Author of The Devil Wears Prada Lauren Weisberger, which the film was adapted from, announced that she was working on a sequel to her best seller - titled Revenge Wears Prada - recently. However, progress on the book is said to be moving at a glacial pace.

In the meantime, Blunt is pretty busy. Her latest film, The Five-Year Engagement, is currently in cinemas and her next film, starring alongside Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, is in post-production.

She told us: "I'm really excited about Looper coming out in September, it's a futuristic thriller and the coolest movie I've ever done.

"I'm really lucky to be in it. I play Sarah who lives on a farm and she gets embroiled in all of the time travel mess that goes on in the movie, I can't say too much about it."

Isle Of Wight Festival: What's On Apart From The Rain... (PREVIEW)

$

Rain might have put a dampener on the start of the Isle Of Wight festival, but there's plenty for the 50,000 festival-goers bravely battling the adverse weather to look forward to.

So far indie rockers The Charlatans have played a gig on a tiny fort in the middle of the sea as a warm-up for the festival and on Thursday night Primal Scream headlined the Big Top stage.

Now here's a look at the some of the other best acts playing over the soggy weekend...

Friday

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are headlining after a massive 13-year break from UK shows. Expect some unspoiled American rock from the 61-year-old music veteran and his band. Also on the main stage, Elbow are set to unveil a major new track, Example will get everyone dancing, while Noah and the Whale and Feeder will also perform.

At the Big Top, Groove Armada are putting on a DJ set - a surefire hit - and Kelis will be doing a medley of her tracks, while Lana Del Rey promises to captivate listeners with her dulcet tones.

Saturday

Seattle grunge rockers Pearl Jam headline on Saturday, with Scottish band Biffy Clyro also taking to the main stage. Also there will be some chart toppers, such as The Voice coach Jessie J - she puts on a great show - and urban pop acts Labrinth and Tinie Tempah.

Madness will also play a set, just in case seeing them perform on top of the Buckingham Palace at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Concert sparked a desire to hear them again.

Over on the Big Top stage, if you fancy something more contemporary than Pearl Jam, some of the most exciting new artists in the charts will be tearing up the stage, including rapper Professor Green and Mercury-nominated Katy B.

Sunday

Despite the endless rain and mud baths it's worth sticking around for Sunday night as Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band (and his epic back catalogue) will be on show on the main stage. And Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds are sure to be a laugh.

The Garden Stage has Christina Perri, who will surely sing her insanely popular and beautiful Jar Of Hearts, and non-other than Sporty Spice Melanie C will be belting out some of her new music. Oh, and if you're into former X Factor winners then Matt Cardle will be strumming his guitar, hopefully without that hat.

ITV Warn Lorraine's Mark Heyes, Holly Willoughby, Gino D'Campo Over Product Placement

$

A fashion expert on ITV's Lorraine has come under fire for plugging clothes from a shop he works for, it was revealed on Wednesday, sparking investigations into the channel's other presenters and possible product placement.

Lorraine's fashion guru Mark Heyes was given a warning after he promoted clothes from Debenhams while being paid as the store's brand ambassador.

This Morning's Holly Willoughby and TV chef Gino D'Campo have also reportedly been warned over plugging brands they are associated with.

A source told The Mirror: "In the past Holly has worn a number of her own dresses from the brand Very and Gino often wears bright watches which are on camera a lot, so we have to look at things like this now to make sure we don't do anything wrong."

ITV were previously accused of product placement in 2011, when hit reality show the X Factor was investigated by Ofcom after receiving complaints that judge Tulisa Contostavlos was promoting her brand of perfume on the show.

Contostavlos made a signature gesture at the start of each show, which highlighted a tattoo on her right arm featuring the words, The Female Boss. The Female Boss is the former N-Dubz star's fragrance.

But is what these stars are doing really any different from the actors, musicians and writers who appear on TV chat shows to promote their latest films, TV shows, records or books?

Clips from their films or records are often shown and there's little chance of getting any A-list star to do a TV or radio interview unless they have something to promote.

Product placement has been around for decades. In 1927, Wings became one of the first famous silent films to feature product placement, with a plug for Hershey's chocolate, and went on to win the first ever Academy Award for Best Picture.

The James Bond film franchise also uses product placement. 1995's Golden Eye was the focus of a highly successful BMW campaign, which promoted the automaker's new Z3 model. Sales of the Z3 surged as film claimed the top spot at the box office.

More recently, pop star Lady Gaga seemed to promote around nine products in her video Telephone - watch it below - there are flashes of Heartbeats earphones, Virgin Mobile, Diet Coke, HP Envy 'Beats Limited Editon' laptop from Monster, Plenty Of Fish dating site, Chevrolet, Polaroid, Wonderbread and even a Miracle Whip.

Gaga would have been paid for slipping these brands into her video, just like Sarah Jessica Parker's Carrie Bradshaw with her trusty Mac and Manalos. So perhaps ITV's real problem with Mark Heyes plugging Debenham's clothing on Lorraine is that they just haven't found a way to monetise it?

In the words of Don Draper perhaps "It wasn't a lie, it was ineptitude with insufficient cover."
