The Bourne Legacy Trailer: Jeremy Renner Steps Into Matt Damon's Shoes

The Bourne Legacy trailer has debuted online, replacing the franchise's famous face of Matt Damon with Jeremy Renner's battered mug.

From the first look at the next instalment in the Bourne series, adapted from Robert Ludlum's novels, there will be just as much pulse-racing action as we've come to expect, plus a whole lot more intrigue.

Jason Bourne Renner is not: he's a new CIA operative, named Aaron Cross, who has his own share of grudges to harbour.

In the video, one apparatchik notes he's "Jason Bourne without the inconsistency", while Edward Norton, also starring, offers: "Jason Bourne was just the tip of the iceberg."

The Bourne Legacy is set for release Friday 15th August 2012. Check out the trailer above:

Mark Wright's Presenting Skills Need To Improve, Or 'Take Me Out: The Gossip' Is Doomed

Mark Wright first came into the spotlight as a lad from Essex starring in a reality series, where he played an exaggerated version of himself. His lines consisted of little more than telling perma-tanned girls he "liked" them, inviting them for drinks in his "private booth" and ribbing his best mate Arg on his weight. But he was obviously easy on the eye, and at least the lines flowed without problem from his perfect-toothed mouth.

After ditching TOWIE, Wright flew to the Australian jungle where he played a nicer, wimpier version of himself - or, as he claimed, the "real Mark Wright" - on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here.

The nation, or ITV viewers, anyway, watched him enter a very 21st-century bromance with new jungle buddy Dougie, and saw him put his womanising ways aside to settle for one solitary jungle Jane - in this case, underwear model Emily Scott. As if by magic, his popularity was bolstered in just three short kangaroo-anus-eating-weeks.

Ambitious Mark has made no secret of his plans to conquer the TV world, even setting his sights on Hollywood. In January, a source told The Daily Star Mark was ditching his Essex accent and trying to take on more "soft, plummy" tones to make it across the pond. They reported: ""He fancies himself as a younger, more attractive version of Hugh Grant. He's definitely got the charm and a penchant for the ladies."

And then, last week, it was announced that he'd landed his first movie role - thanks to his good looks and the very same Essex accent. Well, that Hugh Grant thing was never going to work, was it? Mark is now lined up to feature alongside Tamer Hassan and Danny Dyer in a new British gangster movie - playing Kelly Brook's love interest.

According to The Sun: "Acting is his main ambition and he's already started winding up his mates by saying that he's going to be the new George Clooney."

And he recently made his first &pound1m and is now driving around in a Mercedes convertible.

There could be just one small fly in the career ointment for world-conquering Mark - his TERRIBLE presenting skills. While landing film roles, Mark's also been trying his hand at compering Take Me Out: The Gossip, the spin-off show to ITV's cheesy dating show Take Me Out, hosted by Paddy McGuiness.

If you haven't put yourself through the cringeworthy experience of watching his auto-cue debut yet, then here's a snippet from the show's trailer - notice the lack of lines:

Yesterday, the Daily Mirror reported that Mark is now looking for tips on how to appear more natural in front of the camera. An insider told the Daily Mirror: "He was wooden and awkward but it's his first job as a presenter."

However, bosses are thought to be 'really pleased' with how he has come across on the programme.

Aside from the fact Mark really shouldn't be giving any sort of dating advice, his gormless expression and stiff presenting skills are leading audiences to ridicule the star when he's attempting to prove he's more than a reality TV face.

One viewer tweeted:

Another said:

And help will hopefully come soon, as Mark, who has admitted that Ant and Dec are a massive inspiration, is also keen to host a show with his I'm A Celebrity pal Dougie Poynter.

An insider said: "Mark and Doug are itching to land their own TV show, something they can front together as a duo. Mark has loads of ideas and is really serious about trying to get producers to consider them."

Mark's obviously not a bad sort, and his wishes to better himself are admirable, let's just hope his next role creates fewer laughs for all the wrong reasons.

Strictly Soulmates - 9.00pm, BBC3

How do you find a partner when you aren't allowed to date? That's what tonight's Strictly Soulmates on BBC3 at 9pm explores as three young traditional Muslims allow cameras to follow them as they search for 'The One'.

We're used to watching dating programmes where hopeless romantics look for love online, on Paddy McGuinness's Take Me Out, or after trying out for a partner in a humiliating manner on a reality TV show. However, Strictly Soulmates is a dating show with a twist and tonight's episode is set to give audiences a window onto an otherwise unseen world.

This evening Naila Ahmed is expected to enter into an arranged marriage, Zubair Asghar wants to find a wife who will move to Pakistan with him, and 31-year-old doctor Dimpy Malik reveals why she has already turned down 60 potential husbands who failed to meet her long list of requirements.

Tonight: The Cost Of Going Green - 7.30pm, ITV1

Bermuda Triangle: The Mystery Revealed - 8pm, Channel 5

This may be a repeat, but if you're still bamboozled by the Bermuda Triangle, this documentary is the perfect first step in beginning to understand the mysterious disappearance of aircraft and boats in the area. The programme follows scientists as they embark on an expedition to the feared Triangle between Bermuda, Miami, Florida and Puerto Rico, which has, in the past, spawned a whole host of conspiracy theories, supernatural ponderings and, of course, some classy Triangle-titled TV dramas and films.

TOWIE: Could Amy Childs' Return Improve The Flagging Show?

$

0
Is Amy Childs TOWIE's saviour? She thinks not. The flame-haired reality TV star has taken to her Twitter to deny reports that she's returning to The Only Way Is Essex, saying she's "upset" that such lies have been written.

Her reaction comes after The Sun published a story today, claiming a source had said: "Amy would love to rejoin. She desperately misses TOWIE. She was always one of the big stars so it makes sense for her to go back.

"Her show was a complete flop on Channel Five and no one seemed to care so her profile was knocked."

The ditzy star has responded, saying "this is not true", adding that her show: "did not get a axed , it was always going to be a 8 episode show".

But while Childs may not need the show anymore - she's racked up an estimated fortune of £1.5million, which should keep her in fake tan supply for quite some time - does TOWIE need her?

The latest series has so far failed to pull in impressive viewing figures - could Childs' vagazzle back in Brentwood be what the show needs?

Childs was the first of its stars to branch out on her own, famously quitting the ITV2 show last year to take part in Celebrity Big Brother - which was deemed more high-profile than tottering around the expensive nightclubs of Essex.

And after some quality time with Jedward in the house in a polka-dot bikini, she went on to land her own fly-on-the-wall show It's All About Amy on Channel 5.

Meanwhile, the world of BAFTA-wining TOWIE continued and Childs' vacancy was filled with other silicon-enhanced females ready to show off their assets and their lack of brain cells. However, now that the show has reached its fourth series, things seem to have become a little stale. Or as Joey would say, "the reem is over."

Last week, the fourth series kicked off more than half a million viewers down on the third season - the first episode attracting 1.34 million viewers compared with 1.89 million last autumn.

Other popular cast members such as Mark Wright have also left the show and all evidence seems to be pointing towards the fact that maybe this reality show has simply lost its sparkle. Just as we blink when the lights come on after a heady night in a trashy nightclub, are we finally sobering up and regretting our time spent in the silly world of TOWIE?

Let us know your views below - is Amy what TOWIE needs to return to its former fun? Or are its days numbered?

Holly Willoughby To Revive 'Surprise, Surprise' - Can This Remake Work?

$

Holly Willoughby is reportedly stepping into Cilla Black's shoes to host a one-off remake of ITV's Surprise, Surprise.

It's unlikely Willoughby, who previously presented Dancing On Ice, will be singing the theme tune like Cilla did, but producers are hoping she can produce an equal amount of lorra lorra laughs.

The show previously ran for more than 10 years, between 1984 to 1997, and featured practical jokes and unsuspecting members of the public in tear-jerking reunions.

The Sun reports TV executives want to bring the show back for a one-off special and are in discussions with the This Morning host to present it.

A source said: "Surprise Surprise was a big hit when it aired in the Eighties and Nineties and viewers remember it fondly.

"We'll be updating the show and giving it a modern twist but the essence will still be the same."

Surprise, Surprise is just the latest golden-oldie to be remade. Last week it was announced Simon Mayo will be the new face of Blockbusters, which originally ran from between 1983 and 1994, with the late Bob Holness presiding over those requesting a P.

And Vernon Kay is also set to present a rebooted version of telly classic Through The Keyhole, which first ran from 1987 to 1994, taking Loyd Grossman's place in snooping around stars' lavish pads. Paul O'Grady is expected to take Sir David Frost's place in challenging guests to guess the homeowner's identity from Kay's visual clues.

Here are our picks of what's on the box for the weekend:

Friday

New Girl - 8.30pm, Channel 4

Zooey Deschanel celebrates Thanksgiving with her crush in tonight's episode of New Girl. From what we've seen of Zooey's ditzy character Jess so far, this can only end in disaster. If you can get past the self-obsessed theme songs, then the show should raise a smile.

Wild About Pandas - 9.00pm, BBC2

Who isn't wild about pandas? These bears - who look way more cuddly than they actually are - are the focus of an unmissable BBC2 documentary tonight. And the stars aren't just any old pandas - but Tian Tian and Yang Guang, the Chinese pandas transferred to Edinburgh Zoo in December 2011. The programme, narrated by David Tennant, watches as vet Simon Girling travels to China to find out how the pair fare in their homeland, while keeper Alison Maclean heads to the Wolong reserve to investigate efforts to introduce more of the species into the wild.

Saturday

Made With Love - 6.30pm, Food Network

If you're planning on cooking up a storm for your loved one in the kitchen this Valentine's Day, then take some inspiration from this show for loved-up foodies. Dancing On Ice professional skater Matt Evers joins Lotte Duncan in the kitchen to create romantic dishes and drinks designed to make the mouth water and hearts leap.

The Jonathan Ross Show - 9.15pm, ITV1

Joining Wossy on his star-spangled sofa this Saturday is double Oscar-winner Denzel Washington, who talks about his forthcoming thriller Safe House, and Pirates of the Caribbean's Keira Knightley, whose latest film A Dangerous Method (in which she's spanked by Michael Fassbender) is out this weekend.

Inception star Tom Hardy also drops by, and as reports this week have already given away, he and Ross don't see eye to eye when Ross probes him about his modelling past. Check it out for the 'joke' tiff alone.

Sunday

Call The Midwife - 8.00pm, BBC1

This drama starring Miranda Hart has quickly become a highlight of our weekend TV. In this Sunday's episode, Jenny tackles a taboo as she comes across an unnaturally close brother and sister. And Chummy (Hart) faces down a torrent of ribaldry when she shows the women of Poplar what to do with condoms.

The British Academy Film Awards - 9.00pm, BBC1

It's the biggest night in the British film industry's calendar on Sunday as A-listers head to London's Royal Opera House for 2012's BAFTA ceremony. Stephen Fry returns to host the event after a five-year break and emotional acceptance speeches are expected as the stars battle it out for the top prizes. Gary Oldman, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender and Jean Dujardin are all up for Best Actor, while the Best Actress category sees a five-way contest between Meryl Streep, Michelle Williams, Tilda Swinton, Viola Davis and Berenice Bejo. BAFTA 2012: The Artist Sweeps The Board With Seven Awards

Silent film The Artist made a big noise at the Bafta film awards tonight winning seven awards including Best Film, Leading Actor and Best Director.

The film - a homage to the silent era of Hollywood that was lost forever with the arrival of the talkies - swept the board.

The only low point was seeing its leading lady Berenice Bejo lose out in the Outstanding Actress award to Meryl Streep.

Streep, who picked up the prize for her role as Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady, said: "Somebody once said the fate of the well-known is to be misunderstood and the ambition of this film, The Iron Lady, was to look at the life of the Iron Lady from the inside out and to locate something real, maybe hidden, but truthful in the life of someone we've all decided we know everything about already."

SLIDESHOW: All the red carpet photos.

The American actress also paid tribute to her ancestors who were - like Lady Thatcher herself - originally from Lincolnshire.

She said: "Half of me is Streep and the other half is Wilkinson from Lincolnshire so I come by it honestly, this part."

The director of The Artist, Michel Hazanavicius, picked up the gong for Original Screenplay, saying: "I'm very surprised because so many people thought there was no script because there was no dialogue, so English people are very clever. Congratulations to you."

Hazanavicius also picked up the Best Director award from Brad Pitt, saying: "I know that I will have some bad days because I'm a director, but I will remember this day as a good day."

The film's star, Jean Dujardin, was presented with the Leading Actor award by Spanish star Penelope Cruz.

He paid tribute to his award-winning director, saying: "Michel, what have you done to me? It's all your fault."

The French actor admitted he was surprised to get an award in the country of "Laurence Olivier, William Webb Ellis and Benny Hill".

The Artist also picked up awards for Original Music, Cinematography and Costume Design.

The awards, held at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, central London, began with a bang with Sir Tom Jones belting out the theme to the James Bond film Thunderball - more than 40 years after he first recorded the song - to mark half-a-century of the superspy's cinema adventures.

The event, officially known as the Orange British Academy Film Awards, is the biggest movie bash of the year in the UK and is seen as an accurate pointer for Oscar success which is only make The Artist an even bigger favourite for success at the ceremony in Los Angeles later this month.

The award for Film Not In The English Language was given to Pedro Almodovar's The Skin I Live In.

Actor-turned director Paddy Considine and Diarmid Scrimshaw won the gong for Outstanding Debut By A British Writer, Director or Producer for their film Tyrannosaur.

Helena Bonham Carter, who won the Best Supporting Actress award last year, gave the Best Supporting Actor gong to Christopher Plummer for Beginners.

Plummer, who was not at the ceremony, plays a widower who comes out as gay to his son after the death of his wife.

The award for Outstanding British Film was given to Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy by Naomie Harris and Berenice Marlohe who will play Bond girls in the next 007 film, Skyfall.

The Supporting Actress award was presented by Daniel Radcliffe to Octavia Spencer for The Help, which is set against the rise of the civil rights movement in the US deep south.

Spencer, whose co-star Jessica Chastain was also nominated for the award, said the win was "a surprise".

She said: "It has been said The Help is an American movie about American problems and American history and I am so grateful to you for seeing past that".

Billy Bob Thornton presented John Hurt with the award for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema and called him an "actor's actor".

Receiving a standing ovation from the audience, he added: "Who would have thought all those years ago that I would have been sharing the stage of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, with Billy Bob Thornton? How fabulous."

Hurt, whose career has seen him star in films including Midnight Express and The Elephant Man, revealed his wife had advised him to bin the speech he had prepared because when he gives speeches he sounds "like somebody else".

He went on to thank all the film makers he had worked with who he said had allowed him to be "the addition to their imaginations".

The only gong voted for by the viewing public - The Orange Wednesdays Rising Star Award - was given to Kidulthood actor Adam Deacon by Mad Men star Christina Hendricks.

Deacon, who said the award was "surreal", added: "It's not just a win for me, it's a win for the underdog."

Paul Bettany handed the award for Best Documentary to the makers of Senna, about Formula One driver Ayrton Senna who died after he crashed in the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.

Hendricks' co-star Jon Hamm gave the award for Adapted Screenplay to husband and wife team Peter Straughan and Bridget O'Connor for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

Straughan paid tribute to O'Connor who died before the film came out, saying: "She wrote all the good bits, I made the coffee."
He added: "Bridget, I love you, I miss you, this is for you."

The night ended with a fulsome tribute to British cinema from Raging Bull director Martin Scorsese who was given the Bafta Fellowship.

He said British films were "a bit of a mystery and a great marvel".

Adele's Grammy Performance: Star Steals Show With 'Rolling In The Deep' (VIDEO)

Adele made a spectacular return to the stage at last night's Grammys as she belted out her award-winning soulful song Rolling In The Deep.

The British star, who captured the world's heart with an album about a broken romance, received a lengthy welcome-back standing ovation from her peers as she hit the high notes and proved her recent vocal chord surgery had not affected her voice.

Adele also emerged as the top winner at the 2012 Grammy Awards, picking up six trophies including the prestigious triple of record, song and album of the year.

The singer sobbed as she won the night's final award, album of the year, for 21. It was last year's top-selling album with more than six million copies sold.

Her victories tied her with Beyonce as the most wins by a woman in one evening.

"Mum, gold is good!" Adele shouted as she took the album of the year trophy.

Grammy Awards 2012: Rihanna, Coldplay, Chris Brown, Katy Perry Take To The Stage (VIDEO)

Adele's comeback performance of Rolling In The Deep stole the Grammy Awards show last night. However, things weren't so great for fellow Brit Chris Martin, who struggled to create such a stir as he sang Coldplay's hit Paradise.

Sounding off-key and croaky, frontman Martin battled through the song, fighting the bad cold that has prompted the band to scrap upcoming Australian tour dates.

A whole host of musicals greats also performed throughout the evening.

Talking points included Rihanna's pumped-up rendition of We Found Love, during which she writhed around on the crowd until the Calvin Harris-produced track came in. The singer's blonde 'do gave the performance a twinge of Tina Turner.

Bruce Springsteen kicked the evening off with a stirring rendition of uplifting new song We Take Care of Our Own and Katy Perry made her fiery first TV appearance since her December marriage split to Russell Brand.

Other major performance highlights included Chris Brown's colourful act to his new song Turn Up The Beat, which saw him stand atop a collection of colourful blocks dressed in a white and gray varsity jacket, white pants and sparkling trainers.

Stars Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift and Sir Paul McCartney, who was given a standing ovation for his performance of new romantic standard My Valentine from his new album Kisses on the Bottom, also took to the stage. McCartney also closed the show with a rocking, guitar-heavy hits medley that featured Joe Walsh, Dave Grohl and Springsteen.

The night's most bizarre performance came from Nicki Minaj as she debuted a new alter-ego, called Roman, during a strange performance art piece inspired by horror film The Exorcist. Minaj appeared to levitate as dancers dressed as monks and a man pretending to be a bishop watched on.

But the 2012 Grammys will be remembered for its all-star tributes - to Etta James, 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Glen Campbell, the Beach Boys, who kicked off their 50th anniversary celebrations with a rendition of summer anthem Good Vibrations at the ceremony, and Whitney Houston, who passed away in a Los Angeles hotel on the eve of music's big night.

Host LL Cool J began the show with a prayer for the late superstar before introducing a clip of her performing I Will Always Love You at the 1994 Grammys. And Houston superfan Jennifer Hudson stunned the Grammy audience with a emotional rendition of the same song as part of the In Memoriam segment of the show.

Reports suggested the Dreamgirls star had struggled with the tribute during last-minute rehearsals earlier in the day but she held it together for the pitch-perfect cover.

The night could easily have become a sombre one as stars reflected on Houston's life and legacy, but winners and performers alike appeared to want to make the celebration just that, and soul legend Diana Ross, a 2012 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award honouree, summed up the ceremony best as she stepped up to present the Best Album honour to Adele at the end of the event.

She said, "I am so excited to be here in this fantasic energy. We are having so much fun."

Paul McCartney has visited the makeshift memorial for Whitney Houston outside the Beverly Hilton Hotel where she was found dead on Saturday. McCartney laid flowers with his wife Nancy Shevell.

Meanwhile, fans in Los Angeles have turned out to honour the singer at a candlelight vigil in Los Angeles.

Dozens more Houston fans went to Newark's Whigham Funeral Home in New Jersey last night as the singer's body arrived back in her home state, where it's believed the star's funeral arrangements are being made.

The funeral home, which handled the 2003 funeral of Houston's father John, saw fans arrive outside where they played her songs, sang themselves, lit candles to remember her and hoped to get a glimpse of her casket.

Two people who spoke to the singer's family said they had raised the possibility of holding a wake on Thursday and a funeral on Friday at Newark's Prudential Centre, which hosts college and professional sporting events and seats about 18,000 people.

Former glamour model Abi Titmuss has spoken of how proud she is to have put her partying days behind her and landed a part in Casualty.

The BBC One show - the longest running medical drama in the world - has hired Titmuss to guest-star in Casualty on Saturday alongside Danny Dyer.

Speaking to the Radio Times, she said: "I don't expect my name to open doors - in fact, in TV it absolutely closes them, but I got this part on merit, despite the fact it was me."

The ex-trainee nurse is no stranger to hospitals. Speaking to the Mirror she said: "I worked in casualty as a student and as senior staff nurse on an emergency unit. A lot of the script is medical jargon, which I understand, so that really took me back.

"I've held someone while they died and it was a privilege to do so. Those sorts of experiences I had as a nurse put everything into perspective."

The controversial tagline gave a glimpse of what was to come, and after the first episode it's clear to see the programme remains just as outrageous as the Traveller brides' tans and garish outfits featured in the last series of the show.

The fly-on-the-wall hit, which claims to have "unprecedented access to the world's most secretive community", became the channel's eighth highest-rated programme ever during its first series early last year, racking up a total of 8.7m consolidated viewers. More people watched the finale than watched the Brit Awards on ITV1.

Although Gypsy Weddings gives what the channel claims is an "authentic look into the Traveller community", after watching the first episode there's a sense of uneasiness about what's being filmed.

The episode attempted to find out what's behind the travellers' distinctive and outlandish looks and apparent preoccupation with appearance. It showed 9-year-old Nangel preparing for her first Holy Communion by getting fake nails and a fake tan applied. When asked why she was going to such effort, she said: "God wants you to look good."

The young girls spent so long perfecting their outfits that they missed the beginning of their service, eventually arriving as miniature versions of the older Gypsy brides in their families who became famous last series for their humongous white dresses, and bickering over who looked best.

Little was explained about where the tradition of such a loud look for special occasions came from and when it became such an apparently important focus, with one young girl simply spouting the old adage "beauty is pain". Another Traveller, as she was filmed lying on a sun bed - minus protective eye wear - claimed: "At the end of the day, if I get cancer I get cancer."

The shock factor is what Gypsy Weddings is all about. That's why 21-year-old Dolores, who had been traveling through Spain for the past six months and was returning home to Ireland for the wedding season, got so much attention from the cameras for her 'unusual' palm tree dress. Her friend Chantelle stated matter-of-factly: "I'm a pineapple and she's a palm tree... like a Spanish senorita." And of course, Liverpudlian Dressmaker Thelma Madine, who featured in the first series, was drafted in to create the monstrosities.

The second series is bound to entertain, but it's also likely to upset. Christine Cawley, an Irish Traveller living in London, has already lambasted the series for "presenting an untrue or untypical image" of the Traveller community.

Writing on the Guardian she added: "Some of these posters (for the second series) blatantly exploit young girls who are specially dressed up for an event. The message is: 'This is what they are like all the time, look how brash and provocative they are.' To use children like this just to get viewers is shocking."

Perhaps the most enlightening moment of the show, and an indication of how the show's stars should be reacted to - instead of ridiculed - was provided by the vicar. Asked how he felt about the young girls who arrived late for their first Holy Communion in outfits that even Christina Aguilera might think trashy, he said: "That's them and that's how they express themselves... Like it or not, that's special."

Sony has apologised for increasing the price of two Whitney Houston albums on Apple's iTunes store just hours after the singer's death on Saturday.

The wholesale price of Whitney's albums The Ultimate Collection and Whitney: The Greatest Hits went up by about £3 each, shortly after her body was discovered in a bath at a hotel in Beverly Hills.

In a statement to Billboard.biz, Sony Music said: "Whitney Houston product was mistakenly mispriced on the UK iTunes store on Sunday. When discovered, the mistake was immediately corrected. We apologise for any offence caused."

Fans of the singer who noticed the error took to Twitter to lambast Sony for what appeared to them as cashing in on Houston's death. And Wendy Day, the co-founder of a not-for-profit organisation that aims to keep artists from being unfairly exploited, wrote on Twitter:

Meanwhile, Houston looks set to storm back into the top 10 following her death.

Early sales figures show the late star could have as many as seven singles in the top 40, with the highest - former chart-topper I Will Always Love You - on target to reach number 10.

Daddy Daycare - 8.00pm, Channel 4

Channel 4 rolls out its latest observational documentary tonight, highlighting the plight of nine hopeless and/or unwilling dads who agree to work in nurseries for one week.

In a sort of social experiment, the men - who admittedly have very little childcare experience - take on the generalisations of the nursery workers, such as: "Guys have no instinct whatsoever when it comes to children."

There's nappy changing lessons aplenty, and undoubtedly some tantrums - from the toddlers and dads alike - but things are learnt about the differences between male and female approaches to childcare.

The first episode stars three participants at a south London nursery - workaholic Garry, ex-military man Stefan, and reluctant father-of-one Jay.

Versailles - 9.00pm, BBC2

Historians line up in this engaging docudrama to say what a nice man Louis XVI was, in the final part of the story of France's doomed aristocracy.

As starvation plagued the French population, the aristocracy became increasingly unpopular. The King had the same problem as leaders everywhere: how do you tax the rich without losing their favour?

Roger And Val - 10.00pm, BBC2

In tonight's episode of this dark comedy, starring Dawn French and Alfred Molina, Roger is racked with nerves as he prepares for his unfair dismissal tribunal. Val offers support by way of a good luck charm for him: a little wind-up toy of a swimming man, and their absurd, but hilarious, married-couple rambling conversations continue.

TV's Top 10 Richest Stars: Eamonn Holmes, Amy Childs, Harry Hill All Make The List (PHOTOS)

The richest stars on TV last year have been revealed, with This Morning presenter Eamonn Holmes, ex-TOWIE star Amy Childs and comedian Harry Hill all making the top ten.

Childs - who managed to pull in an estimated £2.75m after leaving the Essex based reality show and going on to star in Celebrity Big Brother - trades mostly on her appearance, but this is obviously what people were prepared to pay for it. Just to put it in context, this sum is more than 135 times the average starting salary of a UK registered nurse.

Childs may not have saved any lives, but she's brought us lots of entertainment - right? If talking about "vagazzles" is entertainment.

Dermot O'Leary, on the other hand, who did a grand job of reading an auto-cue and filling time when something went wrong on the live X Factor, earned £2m, the same amount as Lorraine Pascale, the model-turned-baker, known mostly for her BBC show Baking Made Easy.

Other TV personalities who took home princely sums for their on-screen duties in 2011 included Top Gear stars James May and Richard Hammond, who were rewarded nicely for driving expensive cars, and May for playing with toys in James May's Toy Stories.

The UK's wealthiest TV star earned an estimated £2.8m, according to OK! magazine's official list. Find out who it was in the slideshow below...

Inside Men - 9,00pm, BBC 1

Heist drama Inside Men returns tonight, with its complex structure and its shifting chronology, keeping viewers guessing well into the third episode.

Our dodgy dealers, played by Steven Mackintosh, Ashley Walters and Warren Brown, continue with their robbery plans. John (Mackintosh) is riding high on his new-found confidence, while Marcus is feeling sidelined.

However, tonight's programme focuses a little more on Chris, the security guard turned "Cash Heist Hero" who had half his leg blown off in the robbery.

Pearl Harbour - 8.05pm, Channel 5

If you want to miss the football match between FC Porto and Manchester City being aired on ITV1 at 8.05pm, then Michael Bay's 2001 big-budget film around the surprise bombing of Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941 could be your other option.

The second World War romantic drama starring Ben Affleck, Josh Hartnett and Kate Beckinsale is no classic but looks pretty enough, with a big seascape of special effects, and a big stonking soundtrack. Passable for a winter night.

Wonderland - 9.00pm, BBC2

And finally, if you didn't get enough of men and children last night in Channel 4's Daddy Daycare - recommended as Wednesday's TV Pick - then this documentary by award-winning film-maker Kira Phillips is worth a watch.

It follows the experiences of three men in the weeks before and after they become fathers, a simple and charming hour's worth of TV.
