Nicole Scherzinger was sensationally dropped from her X Factor USA judging role by Simon Cowell, but there's no keeping her away, and this Saturday will see her once again join the singing contest, this time on the UK panel.

So what will she do differently to save herself from the same fate twice?

"I don't know what I'll do. I'll sing my heart out," she joked at the launch of X Factor series 9 on Thursday.

Talking about her new co-stars Louis Walsh, Gary Barlow and Tulisa, the former Pussycat Doll said: "I'm inspired by these people and the different energy on the couch.

"I'll just be honest in the moment and truthful and give 110% like last time I was on the X Factor and follow my heart."

Sticking up for the singer, Louis noted: "She's working with nicer judges now... Simon is in America."

Introducing herself to the UK press, she said: "You might think I'm the sweet judge, but underneath I'm a scary bitch," causing an outpouring of laughter.

She continued: "There's no room for any excuses, I'm a very hard worker and I look for that in people."

'Total Recall' Premiere: 'She Would Have Me For Sure', Says Jessica Biel Of Co-Star Kate Beckinsale

Colin Farrell and his beautiful Total Recall co-stars Jessica Biel and Kate Beckinsale wowed fans in London's Leicester Square on Thursday night, as they appeared at the UK premiere for Len Wiseman's remake of the 1990 classic.

Although Biel and Beckinsale were glammed up in gorgeous gowns to debut the action-packed film, their characters in the sci-fi flick are altogether less ladylike.

Beckinsale, who plays Lori, becomes the wife from hell and spends the entire duration of the film trying to kill her husband Douglas Quaid (Farrell), while Biel, who plays a rebel fighter, spends the film trying to protect him (and what remains of the world) - cue a kick-ass fight scene between the two women.

Speaking about the thrilling scene to The Huffington Post UK, Biel said: "It was quite silly, when it would cut we would laugh our heads off at how aggressive we were being, we aren't really aggressive people at all."

And she added that throwing the punches "was very empowering".

Eager not to start an off-screen feud with Beckinsale, she noted: "Some days I think she would have me for sure."

Meanwhile, British actress Beckinsale, who was directed by her husband Wiseman in the film, said she's nothing like her tough character in real life: "I don't have to be because I do it in films, but it's a deterrent for people."

Asked how he found working with Biel and Beckinsale, the star of the film Farrell said: "It was cool, they are sexy ladies but two very taken ladies, they are very smart and kind ladies and really talented actresses. I had a blast working with them both.

"It was a long shoot, it was five months, so there was a lot of waiting around and we all had a really good time together."

Farrell's character was originally played by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the much-loved classic Total Recall, but the Irish actor said he felt no pressure to live up to the role.

He explained: "I was kind of dubious at first, but when I read the script it felt so different from the original that I lost any sense of trying to compete with the memory of what Arnie did."

Shia LaBeouf has revealed he is "terrified" about starring in Lars Von Trier's Nymphomaniac because he will have to have sex "for real" in the sexually explicit film.

He told MTV: "It is what you think it is. There's a disclaimer at the top of the script that basically says, we're doing [the sex] for real. And anything that is 'illegal' will be shot in blurred images, but other than that, everything is happening."

The film also stars Charlotte Gainsbourg, whose character's sexual history is the focus of the film.

Her husband, to be played by Stellan Skarsgard, narrates. It's thought LaBeouf will play one of Gainsbourg's lovers. Nicole Kidman has also recently hinted that she is attached.

LaBeaouf, in an interview with THR, recently announced he's finished making blockbusters.

"There's no room for being a visionary in the studio system. It literally cannot exist," he said, before adding, "[The studios] give you the money, then get on a plane and come to the set and stick a finger up your ass and chase you around for five months."

He seems to be keeping his word. This summer he's starring in Lawless, a film he helped produced, and appearing in the indie productions The Company You Keep and The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman.

'X Factor' Pink Wannabe Zoe Alexander Slammed By Tulisa: 'She Chose To Bring Issues To Stage'

Tulisa has already shown she is not to be messed with during the new series of the X Factor, dealing crisply with an underwhelming Pink impersonator.

Viewers were left shocked in the first show when contestant Zoe launched an angry tirade - throwing her microphone, smashing a camera and hurling abuse at the judges and production staff - following her rejection.

But Tulisa, watching the bizarre spectacle with members of the press earlier in the week, commented coolly: "There is always going to be the odd person who throws a hissy fit."

Asked if she was a bit worried, Tulisa replied: "I didn't fear for my safety, I feared for Louis. I thought she seemed like quite a tough cookie."

Zoe let fly with an angry tirade

Zoe's anger erupted after she was sent home for impersonating Pink instead of finding her own style. She accused the judges of making her sing a Pink song, a claim that Tulisa denied: "We gave her two songs but she came out looking like Pink, not even Tom Jones could save her."

She added: "Nobody gets told what to sing - it's their audition at the end of the day. But looking at the way she was dressed she was pretty much set on doing the whole Pink thing, so everything she said was kind of contradictory."

Judge Louis Walsh agreed: "She came on stage looking like Pink and acting like Pink."

Speaking at the press launch of X Factor series 9 on Thursday, Tulisa said she wasn't concerned about Zoe: "I thought she seemed like a strong character from the level of aggression she was giving off.

"At the end of the day, there is always going to be the odd person who throws a hissy fit. Just because one person can't control their temper, I don't think it's a reason to say 'we need to think about the emotional stability.' She chose to bring those issues to the stage."

Back in June, soon after the incident, Zoe told The Mirror: "I lost it and said they were a bunch of c**ts. I want to apologise to the judges and to the audience - but they set me up to humiliate me."

Her dad Glen Smith, a Tom Jones impersonator, added: "They wanted a girl with attitude and that's what they got. They even chose the song for her but then the judges all gave her a 'no'.

"They shattered a young girl's dreams of being a star all for the sake of reviving the flagging viewing figures."

What did you make of Zoe's tantrum? Did the judges treat her fairly?

A 16-year-old student called Ella gave the X Factor judges goose bumps on Saturday when she took to the stage and performed a song written after her granddad’s death.

The touching lyrics even won over guest judge Mel B at the Manchester auditions; up till that point the former Spice Girl had offered up a raft of negative comments towards contestants.

Mel B said: "What we just witnessed was incredible," and Louis Walsh agreed: "You're a class act."

Ella, from Tetney in Lincolnshire, who told audiences she had been performing for her grandfather since she was a toddler, seemed to capture Tulisa's heart.

The outspoken judge, gushed: "There’s so many good things I could sit here and say about you, I could go on and on - the list is endless, but the one thing is that you are the one person that I personally go ‘I really want to mentor, I really do’ I see something so special in you, there’s just a spark, you’re just a star."

Meanwhile, Gary Barlow labelled the young singer: "Out of this world."

Saturday's 75-minute episode saw a revamp of The X Factor, with producers allowing wannabes to write and perform their own original music.

Team GB Olympic gold medallists Jessica Ennis, Mo Farah, Chris Hoy and Bradley Wiggins have reportedly been signed up as mentors on the X Factor.

Simon Cowell has enlisted the champions as motivators for his singing hopefuls, according to The Mirror.

And they didn't come cheap, with the deal rumoured to have cost nearly £1million.

However, Chris Hoy has denied that he will be appearing on the show. He tweeted: "Some amusing stories in press about me being a mentor on X-Factor; that's the first I've heard about it! #dontbelievethehype!"

He added: "And no I'm not doing Strictly either!!"

The paper reports that the special Olympic episode will be screened next month, as part of the first live show of the series, and that the contestants will sing sports themed songs such as Gold by Spandau Ballet, The Winner Takes It All by Abba and Tina Turner’s Simply The Best.

X Factor contestant Ella Henderson, who wowed the judges on Saturday's series opener with a song she had written herself, has spoken about the "overwhelming" reaction she received.

Appearing on ITV's This Morning, the 16-year-old said: "The whole thing was just overwhelming and the reaction I got was totally unexpected - I'm still trying to find a way of accepting it all, all the compliments that I've been given."

On Saturday, the student from Tetney in Lincolnshire told the judges she had been performing for her grandfather since she was a toddler, before stunning them all with an emotional song written for him after his death.

ella henderson
Ella Henderson and Caroline Flack on This Morning

Speaking from the This Morning sofa about the experience, Ella said: "The whole day is a waiting game to give that two-minute performance - fifty percent of me was so excited, and the other side of me was really shaky and stuff, but once I was up there and I realised that these four judges are human beings and they are just going to give me honest feedback. I was kind of relieved about that. But I was so overwhelmed hearing the applause and stuff from the audience."

She added: "It was a tough choice to do my own song, but I thought, the rules have changed this year and for that reason I will put it out there - especially with Gary Barlow there, I really wanted to see what his opinion was on it because he's a songwriter himself and I really look up to him."

Meanwhile, Xtra Factor host Caroline Flack, who appeared alongside Ella on This Morning on Monday, spoke out about Pink tribute act Zoe Alexander's violent attack on Saturday's X Factor.

Caroline said: "It's odd because I spoke to her about two minutes before she went on stage and she was very happy singing a Pink song... and I can confirm you do get given five song options to sing - no one tells you want to sing. She gave the second song, she obviously didn't cut it, and people get knocked back all the time and you don't react like that."

Tony Scott's sudden death has shocked his friends and admirers in Hollywood

Friends, fans and collaborators have been struggling to accept the news of the death of the director - Ridley Scott's younger brother - who jumped off the Vincent Thomas Bridge in LA at lunchtime on Sunday.

According to local press reports, the director of hit films such as True Romance left notes in his car with contact information, and further letters in his office.

In the wake of the tragedy, Ridley Scott has halted work on his new film The Counselor, starring Brad Pitt and Cameron Diaz, to be with his family, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Ridley was spotted at at London's Heathrow Airport on Monday waiting to catch a flight to LA, where he is expected to comfort his sister-in-law, Donna Wilson Scott, and his twin nephews.

In the video, he confided: "I don't socialise, I don't function, I don't function outside my office. I've got this cocoon, this little space that I occupy.

"I'm like this gypsy and I don't really feel part of the Hollywood culture, or part of that system, I feel as if I'm doing my thing."

'The Inbetweeners Movie' Sequel Confirmed By Show's Co-Creator Damon Beesley

The Inbetweeners Movie is to get a sequel, according to the comedy's co-creator Damon Beesley.

He told The Sun: “We miss working with Simon, Joe, James and even Blake too much not to give it a go.”

The follow-up to the 2011 summer Box Office record breaker, starring Joe Thomas, James Buckley, Simon Bird and Blake Harrison, will reportedly earn the actors £2.5million each.

the inbetweeners
The cast of The Inbetweeners (L-R) James Buckley, Joe Thomas, Blake Harrison and Simon Bird during the National Television Awards 2010.

The TV show was launched on E4 in 2008 and became such a hit that it was immediately commissioned for a second series and bumped up to Channel 4's main line-up.

After three series and steadily increasing viewing figures, it was announced that the story of the quartet of British sixth-form students would come to an end with a feature film.

That film, about the gruesome love failures of four school friends Will, Simon, Jay and Neil, who went on a booze-fuelled coming-of-age holiday in Malia, Crete, became the biggest surprise hit of 2011.

Taking £45 million at the summer box office, a healthy return on a £3.5m production budget, it earned the most money on an opening weekend ever, beating previous record holders Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason and The Hangover: Part 2.

The flick was essentially 90 minutes of vulgar surprises, including the nasal ingestion of poo, but people came back for more with nearly 600,000 copies of its DVD being sold during its first day on sale.

Now, catapulting stars of the E4 series further into fame, the film is also set to be released Stateside on 7 September.

Mel B reportedly made such an impression on X Factor bosses when she appeared as a guest judge on Saturday's series opener that they want to secure her for a full-time role.

The Sun claims Scary Spice was too busy filming the show in Australia when producers were first looking for a new judge for this series, so they signed Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, to join Tulisa Contostavlos, Louis Walsh and Gary Barlow, instead.

They are apparently now making an effort to scure Mel for 2013, but she would have to quit her job Down Under.

Mel B received mixed-reactions from viewers when she was seen dismissing almost every contestant during the Manchester auditions, with some claiming she was too harsh.

Including, former-TOWIE star Amy Childs, who tweeted:

"You are either going to love her or hate her, but we love her," said Tulisa at the press launch for series nine of the X Factor.

The outspoken singer's opinions gave Simon Cowell's quips a run for their money as she terrified the hopefuls at the Manchester auditions.

Living up to her 'Scary' nickname, here are just a selection of the brutally honest quotes that came out of her mouth while she gave feedback to the acts:

  • "I've had more fun watching paint dry"

  • "You look like a popstar, but you don't sound like one"

  • "There was nothing right about that at all"

  • "I actually wanted to fall asleep"

  • "I found it irritating"

One shy X Factor hopeful from Saturday's show, Curtis Golden, has admitted he is still struggling to come to terms with Mel B's hurtful comments.

The 18-year-old told The Metro he cannot understand why his Spice Girl idol labelled him 'irritating' following his impressive audition.

Jessie Ware 'Devotion': Singer Launches Debut Album To Critical Acclaim

Friends, family and a sprinkling of journalists packed out Red Bull Studios in London on Monday night to watch Jessie Ware celebrate the launch of her debut album with a live performance.

The 11 track record, Devotion, recorded almost entirely at the Tower Bridge hub, with The Invisible’s Dave Okumu, Julio Bashmore and 19-year-old producer Slime, went straight to number six in the album charts on its day of release, and a day later remains in the top 10.

So who is this singer/songwriter who's got the music world talking?

jessie ware

Ware - the daughter of Panorama's John Ware - trained classically at primary school and went on to attend Alleyn's School in south London (where former pupils include Jude Law and Florence Welch).

She studied for an English degree at Sussex University with the idea of becoming a journalist. And up until two years ago, she was a reporter for the Jewish Chronicle, providing occasional backing vocals for her friend Jack Peñate.

However, after singing on SBTRKT’s Nervous in 2010, people began to sit up and take note of her voice.

jessie ware

Now the south London star, inspired by the likes of Chaka Khan, Whitney Houston and more recently Frank Ocean, has got her own album, filled with the kind of songs you can listen to on replay, described as "electronic soul".

Ware, who's been touring since March and has so far released three singles (Running, 110% and Wildest Moments) has told how all of the tracks on the record capture a moment in time in her life...

Speaking to Red Bull, she explained Devotion is the album title as that’s where it all started. Wildest Moment is about her best friend, Sweet Talk was written by her and Bashmore after a curry on a hot night in Bristol, and the final track Something Inside, was her perfect outro song.

She revealed: “I like it because it takes you into a dreamy world."

NME have hailed her debut "a record filled with moments that bring you to your knees" and Clash Music have called it "a strong and accomplished debut," adding that "Jessie Ware has provided the missing link between SBTRKT and Sade".
