The New York Times reported it will cost 20th Century Fox, director James Cameron and all subsequent investors this staggering figure after tallying up the already existing production budget of more than $230 million with the global marketing costs and financial contributions.
Luckily for 20th Century and Cameron his last film, made on a whopping budget of $200 million, managed to make over $1.8 billion dollars worldwide.
Perhaps by releasing Avatar on thousands of screens across the world on December 18, exactly 12 years less one day after Titanic, his previous movie, Cameron thinks it will be as, if not more, successful.
