It's the moment women have been waiting for (apparently) for two years - the release of Sex and the City 2.

The publicity and media hype around the sequel to the first Sex and the City film, which promises us we will learn what happens to Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda now they've settled has certainly got a lot of people excited.

So here at AOL we rounded up our biggest Sex and the City fans from the Moviefone and Stylelist teams and decided to throw ourselves into the full SATC experience.

We donned our heels and dresses and tottered on down to Soho. That's Soho London, not New York, but still.

We were on a mission for the perfect Cosmopolitan, the classic SATC cocktail, before we went to a screening of the much-anticipated movie.Sanctum

And we weren't disappointed as we ended up on the exclusive roof terrace bar of the Sanctum Soho Hotel sipping delicious Cosmos in true SATC style.

See us talk about the characters, the shoes and our thoughts on the movie below in our video blog from the night.

Although it was a glam start to the night once we arrived at the Empire cinema in Leicester Square it turned out to be anything but!

A mad frenzy took over as hundreds of SATC fans surged to get into the movie. With no crowd control or queuing system in sight we got caught up in a bottleneck of screaming women.

Once we finally sat down to see SATC2 there wasn't too much to be pleased about either.

Review

It began well enough with a big gay wedding for Carrie's best gay friend and Charlotte's best gay friend in which Liza Minnelli herself pops up to sing Beyonce's Single Ladies with much relish.

Then there was an update on all the girls lives with some amusing insights: Carrie fears the sparkle has left her marriage, as Mr Big (Chris Noth) increasingly prefers television and takeaways to a night on the town; Samantha (Kim Cattrall) is guzzling pills to ward off the menopause; and a stressed mother-of-two Charlotte (Kristin Davis) is feeling obscurely threatened by the bouncing, bra-less breasts of her young Irish nanny.

But when the girls head off to Abu Dhabi for an all-expenses-paid trip courtesy of a sheikh who wants Samantha to promote his hotel it all goes down hill.

We love the girls because they've always been glamorous yet savvy and smart. However, displaced to the great luxury of a 7 star hotel their character portrayal goes disastrously wrong - they seem just greedy and intellectually vacant. In fact Carrie turns downright rude at some points. It's all about servants and shopping and in Samantha's case disrespecting the countries traditions and rules.

Cattrall's powerful and independent attitude to life and men was something we admired but in this film, the most talented comedienne is gradually turned grotesque. We won't give you the details, they are just too crude to report, but just this line she spouts can give you an idea: "Lawrence of my labia".

Overall the film wasn't boring but it did disappoint, we all felt our favourite characters were pushed too far into silliness and when it comes down to it we don't need to see them in Abu Dhabi we love them in Manhattan.

Our favourite things from the film were strangely enough the music (Jennifer Hudson, duetting with Leona Lewis, Dido, Liza Minnelli covering Beyonce's Single Ladies and Alicia Keys) Miranda, whose character didn't let us down, plus all the fabulous clothes!
